National Access Point ITS
Smart services thanks to up-to-date data
Smart Mobility, including ITS, offers opportunities to make traffic on our roads cleaner, more efficient and safer. But without current and real-time traffic data there’s nothing ‘smart’ about ITS. Governments in Europe therefore strive to facilitate access to data sources with traffic information.
The EU wants to stimulate the development of smart mobility services by making access to data sources with current and real-time traffic data as easy as possible. The Netherlands have set up the National Access Point ITS for this purpose: a national register of traffic-related data sources.
|The register can be accessed via this website.|
Which Dutch parties are involved in the regulations?
The regulations are a consequence of European legislation on intelligent transport systems, ITS.
- This legislation has been 'translated' into Dutch regulations by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.
- National Data Warehouse for Traffic Information (NDW) manages the National Access Point ITS, the online access point for entering and retrieving the data.
- DOVA is involved in Multimodal travel data.
- The Netherlands Vehicle Authority (RDW) has been designated as a supervisor.
