Status information is a collective term for a broad range of data that gives details of the availability of the roads.
The following status information is included in the NDW database:
- Road works and event-related traffic measures
This concerns information on planned and current roadworks on – in principle – all roads in the Netherlands. A link has been made between the NDW database and the most important registration systems for roadworks.
- Reports of congestion, accidents and other incidents
This information is available for all national roads. Rijkswaterstaat creates these reports and NDW immediately forwards them to data recipients.
- Safety-related announcements; such as a wrong-way driver
These announcements are issued by the traffic control centres
- Status (open/closed) of bridges
The NDW database receives a signal via measuring equipment as soon as a bridge opens or closes. This signal is immediately forwarded to NDW data recipients. Initially, data on bridges from Rijkswaterstaat and the Rotterdam city region will become available.
