Status information

Status information is a collective term for a broad range of data that gives details of the availability of the roads.

The following status information is included in the NDW database:

  • Road works and event-related traffic measures

This concerns information on planned and current roadworks on – in principle – all roads in the Netherlands. A link has been made between the NDW database and the most important registration systems for roadworks.

  • Reports of congestion, accidents and other incidents

This information is available for all national roads. Rijkswaterstaat creates these reports and NDW immediately forwards them to data recipients.

  • Safety-related announcements; such as a wrong-way driver

These announcements are issued by the traffic control centres

  •  Status (open/closed) of bridges

The NDW database receives a signal via measuring equipment as soon as a bridge opens or closes. This signal is immediately forwarded to NDW data recipients. Initially, data on bridges from Rijkswaterstaat and the Rotterdam city region will become available.

In 2015 will de added:

  • Status (open/closed) of peak and regular lanes
